As a full-time guitar teacher, I am constantly faced with individuals in all walks of life who, for all unique kinds of reasons, believe that playing the guitar shall add something to their lives. Most people who are simply starting the guitar for the first time are young (pre-university) although certainly not all. One of my favorite students last year used to be a 65-year-old retiree who desired to understand adequate to be allowed to start a bar band with his friends.

There's no “one” reason to play the guitar. That instrument could bring joy to eachone regardless of their primary motivations for taking it up. There is no such thing as being also old or also musically inexperienced for the guitar either. Neither the Beatles or Jimi Hendrix might read music, and I believe most would agree that they did all right with out it.

There is no easy way into it. Please, whatever you do, do not take up the guitar should you be only going to practice the last hour before your lesson. You will merely annoy me and you will never receive any superior.

Remember, should you go to an teacher or you take lessons online or from a book, what you understand is, for the most part, doing you. You are the one hiring the tutor and, although you are putting yourself under their direction, it is your responsibility to inform them about where you wish to go. Discover a trainer who shall assist you profit in the style of music that you wish to go into.

So, why play the guitar? There'sn't a day that I do not wake up and am glad that music is such a big part of my life. Music has brought me more happiness than nearly anything else. When you attain something, the sense of profit becomes real, whether you have recorded your first song, or eventually came to know to play all the chords to “Smoke on the Water”. Playing music, like any other art form or skill, supremely enriches those who study it.
